Chicago Gun Violence: 4 Dead, 29 Wounded This Past Weekend
In Chicago, four people were killed and 29 were wounded in gun violence from Friday to Sunday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Police found the body of a 36-year-old man on the street with a gunshot wound to his head Sunday evening. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead two hours later, the Chicago Tribune reports.
A 17-year-old boy, Marc Williams, was shot Sunday evening in the abdomen and succumbed to his injury, dying at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Charles Wright, 39, was killed Friday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. A man named Cliff Johnson was charged with murder for his death, the Sun-Times reports.
Later Friday, Denzell Franklin, a 23-year-old man, was fatally shot in the Austin neighborhood. Bullets struck Franklin in the face and armpit. He died at the scene of the shooting.
There have been 294 homicides by gun violence in Chicago so far in 2014, according to Red Eye Chicago.
