Hip-Hop Has Strong Thoughts Amid Jussie Smollet's Arrest On A Felony False Report Charge

The "Empire" actor reportedly surrendered to Chicago police on Thursday morning.

The official confirmation of Empire actor Jussie Smollett’s arrest on Thursday morning (February 21) stunned Hollywood and fans to their cores.

According to several major news outlets, including CNN and Chicago Tribune, Smollett surrendered to Chicago police on a felony disorderly conduct charge for allegedly filing a false police report. The charge is directly connected to the reported January attack on the 36-year-old, where he was left hospitalized from a viciously violent racist and homophobic assault. Details of the case are still scarce as police claim to have supporting evidence and sources proving that Smollett deceitfully staged the attack with the two current suspects. Even still, the actor-singer and his defense team are holding steady to his innocence and are “angered and devastated” by the accusations against him.

Those appear to be the same feelings heavy among Hollywood’s music circle too, which is now openly speaking out about Smollett’s situation and the possibility of his duplicity. From Cardi B to Lil Duval, the same hip-hop that once lifted the “Good Enough” singer up in prayer is now lowering side-eyes to the entire ordeal amid recent developments.

See a few of their thoughts and reactions to Smollett’s case below:
